Rivers & lakes
The swimming beach, Jouarres Lake (5 min driving)
Never as crowded as the Mediterranean beaches but lots of people having lots of fun with their children, in safety. A delightful leisure facility and well worth a visit especially with the children. There is plenty of free car parking.
There is a separate swimming area with trained lifeguards in charge . The sailing area is away from the bathing area. In the summer season, a range of surf board courses is on offer in the sailing area.
The snack bar offers a range of cold drinks and frozen food and provides a convenient facility for those coming without their pic-nic.
Rivers for Swimming:
The beautiful spot of Bize-Minervois is very pretty. The water is cold but usually very clear.
If you follow the road up towards Agel, there is another lovely river spot about 1 km before Agel.
Before Bize the river at the Cabezac bridge is also very pretty and shallow.
Heading towards Lagrasse in the Corbieres, the little waterfalls, rapids and shallows in the river at Ribaute is a very picturesque spot.
